Have you ever heard about someone with OCD that has one or a few exceptions to their disorder? Well, this Type A/OCD sufferer is a perfect example. Anyone who comes to my house knows that you will almost never enter it without it being extremely straighted up. Even with a 4 yr old and a 5 month old, I just cannot stand a messy house!! I bet I straighten up our house at least 3x on any given day (& much more on the weekends with Chris home). My Mom visits us every two weeks, because she cannot stand to be away from the girls for very long. When she is here, it drives me insane that the minute she walks in, she brings in a lot of stuff and unloads it on the kitchen counters where it stays for the remainder of her visit. She knows it drives me crazy, so her reading this is not going to be news to her. : ) Examples of what you will find on my counters at that time: a cooler with the type of drinks she likes (yes, you read that right, a COOLER), at least one entire grocery bag of snacks (bc she says we don't keep snacks in the house), a container of her medicine, a large plastic tumbler filled with water, etc. LOL The funniest part is that it drives her crazy that it drives me crazy, because she is a clean fanatic. My house may be straight, but isn't clean enough for her standards. So, I guess we are even. Love you, Mom!!! : )
Back to my exceptions. Mine are my closet and my car. Brace yourselves, the below photos are quite disturbing. Rating R: Not appropriate for children
The 'floor' of my closet:
My walk-in closet should now be called my climb-in closet.
The backseat of my car (2 views):
Yes. That is a kid's Happy Meal fry container.
Wait! I have an idea! Let's play a game of I Spy with the pictures! What do you 'spy?' No, seriously. What do you see?
I spy with my little eye...
Hahaha! Love it! When I first read OCD I thought, except for her closet!!! :) Looks like your mobile shoe storage, oops, I mean your car has now been over run by the girls. Gotta teach em young! And I sooo wish cleaning was as easy as straightening, at least when it's straightened you can see what needs to be cleaned. ;)I want to see the playroom, is it tidy? Any tips on storage and organizing toys? BTW you do not want to see our van! If anything of the kids goes missing its the first place we check!
ReplyDeleteThe playroom is usually straight, too, EXCEPT at the moment. It has the entrance to the attic, so we have boxes of Christmas stuff sitting by the attic door. But, when friends leave, I do go straighten it up. (Or restraighten it if another Mom was thoughtful enough to clean it up.) : )
DeleteMy mom does the same thing and it drives me crazy! She puts her stuff everywhere and leaves water in the sink. Being a nurse she always had to wash her hands when she gets there and she never dries out the sink lol.
ReplyDeleteL, That makes me feel a lot better actually!!
DeleteThis is too funny! Do you remember the times we cleaned out your closet?? haha. I think that was the requirement before we could go wherever it was we had planned on going. My car is a hot mess in the winter just because I don't like being outside and cold long enough to clean it out, lol.
ReplyDeleteJ, I do remember!! Of course!! We had some amazing fun pretty much all of the time no matter what we did. :) Looks like some things (i.e. my closet habits) never change.
DeleteI totally agree! :) My car is still a hot mess (even though I swear I am going to clean it out this weekend...eh, or next, haha). I have finally gotten a handle on my closet but that's mostly because it is just too dang small to be messy.
