Facing the Day - A Few of My Favorite Beauty Things

Like Oprah (and the rest of the planet), I have 'My Favorite Things' in every category you can imagine. Today I wanted to share with you a few of my 'Health & Beauty' favorites. The things I use each day to help me get ready to face the day. UNLIKE Oprah, I'm not giving all of you one of each of them. Wish I could!! I have tried so many products in all of these categories from designer to Target. I'll also tell you where to get them and/or post a link where you can purchase the product.

HAIR

I have extremely fine and straight hair. And I'm of course not a natural blond. Taking all of that into consideration and trying many different types of products, these are what work best for me.

Shampoo: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo
$24.00

I buy mine at Sephora, but Target now carries it as well.

I only use conditioner once a week. It makes my hair too limp and greasy if I use it daily.

Conditioner: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Conditioner
$25.00

*The awesome thing about Bumble and Bumble is that they make 2 oz bottles. This lets you try it (or travel with it) to see if you like it before you spend the $24 and $25.
2oz Shampoo: $8
2oz Conditioner: $9
They have these at Sephora, but I have yet to see them at Target.
You can use the same links I have above for the regular size to purchase the minis. You just have to indicate the size.

Since I don't use the conditioner daily, I have to use a detangler to get a brush through my hair.

Detangler: Suave for kids  : )
Approx $3.00

Don't hate. It works really well and doesn't dry out my hair.

Target or WalMart

BODY

Body: Philosophy Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
$16.00

Love.  Love.  Love. !!!
But I would never use as shampoo. They have many scents. This is just one of my favorites. I also like the Frosted Animal Cookies, Bellini, Margarita, & Red Velvet Cake.

Hand Creme: L'Occitane Hand Creme
$10.00

Sephora

I officially have Desperate  Housewife hands. I wash so many bottles and dishes (okay, really just bottles) that my hands are cracked and dry. Not even cream hand lotion helps. I was in Sephora right before Christmas when I spotted this. I thought it was a cute container worth a try. It is perfect and not sticky like some of the Crabtree & Evelyn hand creams are.

FACE

I have tried so many face washes. They either dry out my face, make it greasy, and/or break my face out. And I am talking about most all you can think of mainly including the specialized ones that advertise they do not do the above. Well, on my face they do.So this is what I use, and I love it. They leave my face feeling fresh and clean.

Cleanser: Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
approx $8
Target or WalMart

The Neutrogena towelettes remove make up, but I wear a lot of mascara. So I also use:

Eye make-up Remover: Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
$9.50

Unlike many eye make-up removers, this one doesn't leave your eyes greasy.

Sephora

Concealer: Mary Kay Concealer
$10

I have really dark circles under my eyes. I always have. This actually works to hide them. This is the only one I have ever found to do so, and luckily is it only $10 (since I would pay pretty much whatever I had to)! The small tube lasts forever, too!

Foundation: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse
Approx $9.00

I don't wear foundation every day. What I like about this one is it is very lightweight, and you cannot tell you have foundation on! It doesn't make your face look cakey like most foundations do.

Target or WalMart

Powder: Merle Norman Flawless Effect Oil Control Pressed Powder
$30.00

Merle Norman stores

It has good coverage but is lightweight.

Blush: Lancôme 'Blush Subtil' Shimmer Delicate Oil-Free Powder Blush
$30.00
Nordstrom or any Large Department Store

 OR

Blush: M·A·C 'Mineralize' Blush
$23.50

MAC Store or Nordstrom

Eye Shadow: L'Oreal HiP Studio Secrets Professional Crystal Shadow Duo
Approx $8.00

Target or WalMart

Stays on really well. When I was in the hospital giving birth to Collins, the nurse came in when it was time. She looked at me and laughed. She thought I had hurried up and reapplied my make up before delivery. I said I hadn't. (And I was telling the truth : ) She said she thought I had, because my eye shadow looked like I had just put it on.

Eye Liner: Lancôme 'Le Stylo Waterproof' Long Lasting Eye Liner
$26.00

Nordstrom or Large Department Store

Eyelash Primer: Urban Decay Eyelash Primer Potion
$20.00

Sephora

I think it is important to use a primer on your eyelashes before you put on your mascara. It keeps your mascara on longer, and it keeps your eyelashes from breaking off as often, especially if you wear mascara every day.

Hope this helps in case you are in the market to try a little something new to help you 'Face the Day!'  :  )

P.S. I know I missed posting something yesterday. By the time I was able to sit down to work on it, it was 1:00 a.m., and I was exhausted. Sorry guys!
